Up to half of patients in Africa lack access to critical medicines, resulting in many health challenges and leading to millions of preventable deaths. Substantial investment has been contributed towards making medicines and health products available to patients. However, long-term results are not being achieved at the rate needed to match Africa’s growth. Health system supply chains continue to face substantial challenges that are limiting the ability of countries to meet their health goals, including insufcient infrastructure and asset optimisation, strategic planning and skills capacity.
ARC is growing a community of practice and collaboration in the public health and supply chain environment in Africa through connecting practitioners and shared learning. Join the movement to help build a sustainable, self-sufficient supply chain system in Africa.
Every person should have access to basic healthcare and medicines to live a healthy, happy and productive life. ARC aims to increase access to medicines and health commodities for patients in Africa by working with ministries of health in countries with the greatest need.
ARC aims to be an independent advisor to support and enable ministries of health to build resilient supply chains that contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Our mission is to partner with ministries of health to help build a sustainable, self- suf cient African healthcare landscape by 2030, with signi cantly increased availability of medicines and health products when and where they are needed.
Our core values
The challenge we address
The alignment of partners and stakeholders in health supply chains remains paramount to building strong, functional health supply systems that reach the ‘last mile’. Additionally, all over Africa there are untapped pools of talent and expertise that could contribute signicantly to bringing new ideas and approaches to how countries serve all their patients and communities effectively.
How we support countries
ARC is a trusted independent enabler of long-term supply chain transformation initiatives and investments in Africa. To drive long-term transformation and build the capacity of ministries of health, ARC follows a government-led process of generating demand for supply chain investment and brokering resources and expertise from all sectors. ARC endeavours to build an extensive network of private sector, academic and professional institution partners to achieve this.
